Saudi Super Cup draw results in fiery confrontations, and the dates are set

The draw for the 2024 Saudi Super Cup was held on Tuesday evening, and it resulted in fiery confrontations, as is the competition’s habit since its launch under the new system in the last two years.

The Saudi League champion and runner-up, and the King’s Cup champion and runner-up, are supposed to participate in the Super Cup under the new system.

But because the league champion and runner-up were the same ones who reached the King’s Cup final (Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr), it was decided that the third and fourth teams in the league, Al-Ahly and Al-Taawoun, would participate.

The draw resulted in a fiery confrontation that will bring together Al-Ahly and Al-Hilal in the semi-final, with Al-Nasr and Al-Taawon meeting in the other semi-final.

It was decided that the Saudi Super Cup would be held this time before the start of the new season, after the last two editions that were played in January and April.

The Super Cup is scheduled to start on August 13, 2024, with the final match being held on August 17, but it has not been announced where the tournament will be held.

The UAE hosted the last edition of the Super Cup with its new system, and historically the competition was played outside Saudi territory more than once, most notably in the British capital, London.

Al Hilal remains the club that has won the title the most on 4 previous occasions, the most recent of which was last year’s edition after defeating Al Hilal in the final match with a score of 2-1.
