Kylian Mbappé continued his habit of scoring against Barcelona, putting Real Madrid ahead in El Clásico at Spotify Camp Nou, as part of La Liga’s tenth round, in a sequence where Ivorian Yan Diomande played a pivotal role.
While Vinícius Júnior watched the match from the stands, Diomande seized the opportunity to start alongside the French forward, capitalizing on the Brazilian’s absence as he serves the second game of a four-match suspension following his red card against Villarreal.
The goal came in the 41st minute when Diomande delivered a cross into the penalty box. Gerard Martín attempted to clear it, but the ball bounced off Mbappé’s knee and redirected into the net, with the Ivorian contributing to the goalscoring opportunity even though his pass did not connect directly with the scorer.
Mbappé raised his tally to 7 goals in 7 El Clásico appearances in a Real Madrid shirt across all competitions, having entered the Camp Nou clash with 6 goals against their arch-rivals since joining Los Blancos.
His overall career tally against Barcelona reached 13 goals in 11 matches—comprising 7 goals with Real Madrid and 6 with Paris Saint-Germain, which were scored across four UEFA Champions League fixtures.
For the current season, the French superstar reached 13 goals in 13 matches for Real Madrid across all competitions, split between 10 goals in La Liga and 3 in the UEFA Champions League, marking his fourth consecutive scoring appearance following matches against Roma, Sevilla, and RB Leipzig.
Specifically at Spotify Camp Nou, this marked Mbappé’s fourth goal and his first in a Real Madrid shirt; he had previously netted a historic hat-trick with Paris Saint-Germain in a 4-1 victory over Barcelona on February 16, 2021, in the Champions League round of 16 first leg.
This tally differs from his overall away record against Barcelona; his brace with PSG in April 2024 came at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc, as did his hat-trick with Real Madrid in the May 2025 Clásico, which ended in a 4-3 victory for the Catalan side.
Diomande’s contribution serves as a continuation of his growing chemistry with Mbappé, having assisted his third goal against Leipzig four days prior before scoring the fourth himself in a 4-1 Champions League victory, as he continues to capitalize on the opportunities handed to him in José Mourinho’s attack.
