Kylian Mbappé reached the landmark of 100 goals for Real Madrid after leading Los Blancos to a 2-1 victory over Barcelona at Spotify Camp Nou, courtesy of a decisive brace in the tenth round of La Liga.
The milestone arrived on a night when José Mourinho’s side desperately needed their French superstar to stay within touching distance of the La Liga summit. Mbappé delivered before the end of the first half, then returned to seal the victory in the closing minutes of the match.
Mbappé achieved his 100th goal in 116 official appearances in a Real Madrid shirt, averaging approximately 0.86 goals per game. Cristiano Ronaldo remains the fastest player to reach this milestone in the club’s history, having needed just 105 matches—11 fewer than the French forward.
Mbappé opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Yan Diomande sent in a low cross that Gerard Martín attempted to clear, only for the ball to ricochet off the French striker’s knee and into the net, giving Real Madrid the lead before halftime.
Following Raphinha’s equalizer for Barcelona, Mbappé struck again in the 87th minute to log both the winning goal and his century milestone. Receiving a pass in front of goal from Eduardo Camavinga—who had bypassed Pau Cubarsí inside the box—Mbappé slotted the ball home.
The brace raised Mbappé’s tally for the current season to 14 goals in 13 matches across all competitions, comprising 11 goals in La Liga and 3 in the UEFA Champions League, marking his fourth consecutive scoring match following fixtures against Roma, Sevilla, and RB Leipzig.
The French forward also bolstered his impressive career record against Barcelona, elevating his total to 14 goals in 11 appearances against the Catalan side—including 8 goals in 7 El Clásico fixtures with Real Madrid and 6 goals during his time with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Between his debut goal against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup on August 14, 2024, and his 100th goal at Spotify Camp Nou, Mbappé has steadily built his scoring legacy with the Spanish giants, lending added significance to his milestone with a victory that brought his side back within three points of the top spot.
