Fermín López has clarified his stance regarding reports linking him with a move to Manchester United, confirming his desire to remain at Barcelona for the rest of his career until retirement.
The Spanish midfielder’s statements came following his stellar performance against Deportivo Alavés and were reported by Mundo Deportivo, amid renewed speculation over the English club’s interest in his services.
When asked about the rumors connecting him to Manchester United, Fermín said: “I don’t pay attention to these kinds of news. I want to stay here at Barcelona for as long as possible.”
He added: “I hope to finish my football career at this club and retire here.”
The 23-year-old was one of the standout performers in Barcelona’s 6-1 victory over Alavés, scoring a goal and providing two assists for Raphinha, while also celebrating by kissing and pointing to the club crest in front of the fans.
Fermín’s commitment reinforces the position of Barcelona, who extended his contract until June 30, 2031, finalizing the agreement last February to secure the long-term future of one of La Masia’s most prominent graduates.
Fermín joined the club in 2016 and spent a season on loan at Linares before breaking into the first team under Xavi Hernández. Under Hansi Flick, he has continued to cement his role, regularly contributing both goals and assists from midfield.
