Real Madrid officials have intervened in recent hours, becoming the latest club to secure a significant deal and snatch it from Paris Saint-Germain.
The deal concerns River Plate star Franco Mastrantuono, who has reached very advanced stages in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain in recent days.
According to Spanish media, Fernando Calafat, a Real Madrid scout, traveled to Argentina early Wednesday, carrying a mandate from President Florentino Pérez to finalize Mastrantuono’s deal for the club.
The 17-year-old player, a passionate Real Madrid fan, informed Paris Saint-Germain officials that negotiations were temporarily suspended until they heard the Spanish offer, hoping to reach an agreement on a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.
The close relationship between Real Madrid’s management and River Plate is also expected to facilitate the deal, which is estimated to cost the Pérez administration approximately €40 million.
So far, the player is leaning toward a move to Real Madrid, but he has not yet reached an agreement with the club, although it is expected to happen within the next few hours.
It is worth noting that coach Xabi Alonso was a key factor in this swift deal, as he believed that signing the young player would significantly enhance Real Madrid’s midfield following the departure of Luka Modric.
