Fulham have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign Spanish midfielder Manuel Ángel, making the 22-year-old the latest Real Madrid academy graduate to join manager Álvaro Arbeloa’s squad.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement between the two clubs is complete, with Real Madrid retaining a sell-on clause and a matching right on future offers for the player, though the final transfer fee has not yet been disclosed.
Manuel Ángel plays as a central midfielder, distinguished by his two-footed ability, technical quality, and movement during build-up play despite standing at 1.70 meters tall. He is affectionately known inside Valdebebas by the nickname “Mami,” derived from the initials of his full name.
The midfielder joined Real Madrid’s academy from Sevilla in 2018 and served as the captain of Arbeloa’s side that won a historic treble in 2023, capturing the Youth League, Copa del Rey Juventud, and Copa de Campeones. Arbeloa previously described him as an “elite-level player” prospect.
Manuel Ángel anchored Castilla’s midfield last season, making 29 appearances and scoring one goal. While Arbeloa granted him an opportunity with the first team, the fierce competition for a permanent role opened the door for his transition to the Premier League.
He becomes the third player recruited by Arbeloa from Real Madrid this summer, following striker Gonzalo García for €40 million plus add-ons and César Palacios for approximately €10 million, with the Spanish club retaining future financial rights on both transactions.
Real Madrid’s total revenue from academy sales and sell-on clauses surpassed €190 million this summer, approaching the €200 million mark, driven by transfers involving Nico Paz, Gonzalo García, Víctor Muñoz, and Mario Gila—solidifying “La Fábrica” as a primary funding source for first-team signings while keeping buyback and future options open.
