Former Real Madrid icon Dani Carvajal has received an enticing offer from Italian side Como to join them on a free transfer this summer.
The legendary Los Blancos right-back had been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan in recent days. This comes amid reports that Inter’s Denzel Dumfries is on the verge of joining Real Madrid following the conclusion of the club’s presidential elections this coming Sunday.
However, Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Como has now officially entered the race, presenting a serious challenge to secure Carvajal’s signature.
Champions League Football and Fàbregas Factor Appeal to Carvajal
A move to Como looks highly appealing to the 35-year-old veteran. Crucially, it would guarantee him UEFA Champions League football next season, alongside joining a club renowned for its technical and administrative stability under manager Cesc Fàbregas.
While Carvajal has yet to make a final decision between joining Fàbregas’s ambitious squad or waiting for Inter Milan, Como currently holds a clear advantage in the race.
Como has built a strong reputation for rejuvenating world-class players in the twilight of their careers. This project heavily tempts Carvajal, especially since playing for Como would shield him from the immense, high-pressure environment he would otherwise face at a club of Inter’s magnitude.
Six-Time Champions League Winner Prefers Europe Over Qatar
Although Carvajal previously received lucrative offers to move to the Qatar Stars League, the Spaniard remains determined to continue playing at the highest level in Europe. His ultimate dream is to play yet another season in the Champions League—a tournament he has famously won six times in the iconic white shirt of Real Madrid.
