An exceptional goalscoring season brought Harry Kane to the winners’ stage at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, with the Bayern Munich and England striker claiming the Gerd Müller Trophy.
The announcement came at the ceremony in London, adding another honour to the England captain’s collection. The award recognises goals scored for club and country during the assessment period.
Kane scored 73 goals in 65 appearances for Bayern and England, comprising 61 for the German club and 12 at international level. He also provided eight assists, completing one of the most productive seasons of his career.
The English striker finished 15 goals ahead of both Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland, who each scored 58 times for club and country, according to the figures included in the Ballon d’Or nomination dossiers.
At Bayern, Kane’s goals helped secure the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup. He finished the league campaign with 36 goals, winning the Bundesliga scoring title for the third consecutive season and collecting the European Golden Shoe.
His outstanding form continued at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored six goals and helped England finish third. He also registered 14 Champions League goals during a campaign in which Bayern reached the semi-finals.
This is Kane’s second Gerd Müller Trophy, having shared the award with Mbappé in 2024 when both scored 52 goals. He succeeds Sweden’s Viktor Gyökeres, the 2025 winner.
