Riquelme previously made headlines by claiming he reached an agreement to sign both Erling Haaland and Rodri, conditional on defeating Florentino Pérez in the presidential elections scheduled for this Sunday.

While Manchester City responded with an official statement threatening legal action against Riquelme, the Spanish billionaire remains adamant that both blockbuster transfers are “guaranteed.”

Riquelme Dismisses Haaland Agent Denials and Addresses Man City Legal Threats

“I want to reconfirm that if I become the president of Real Madrid next Sunday, Haaland will play for Real Madrid,” Riquelme stated in a recent interview.

He added: “I respect Manchester City very much, and perhaps the club simply misunderstood my statements. Haaland and Rodri are under contract there, but the circumstances are different.”

“Rodri’s contract expires next year, and Haaland has a release clause in his contract. I will do my best, and I say it with full confidence: Haaland will play for Real Madrid if I become president.”

Addressing the recent pushback, Riquelme concluded: “It is only normal for the player’s father and agent to deny the matter. This is an election with two candidates, and no one can guarantee who will win. They have to protect the player, which I find completely natural.”

Jürgen Klopp Eyed for Real Madrid Managerial Role Under Riquelme

In addition to his superstar player targets, Riquelme has promised to appoint a world-class manager from the current generation. Although he did not reveal the name, all signs point toward Jürgen Klopp, who currently serves as the Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull.
