Italian media reports indicate that Inter Milan are highly interested in signing Dani Carvajal on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Real Madrid at the end of last season.
The Nerazzurri’s pursuit of the 34-year-old veteran comes as a direct move to replace Denzel Dumfries, who is on the verge of completing a transfer to Real Madrid within the coming hours.
In what is turning out to be a classic “domino effect” in the transfer market, Dumfries is set to fill the void left by Carvajal at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid’s manager, Jose Mourinho, is determined to sign a defensively solid right-back to compete with Trent Alexander-Arnold for the upcoming season.
Inter Milan are expected to act swiftly, opening negotiations with Carvajal in hopes of reaching a mutually satisfying agreement to bring the Real Madrid legend to the San Siro.
While Atalanta’s right-back Marco Balestra remains Inter’s top priority, the high financial demands of that deal might force the Italian club’s board to pivot toward a more cost-effective alternative like Carvajal.
It is worth noting that the Spanish international had previously been heavily linked with a move to the Middle East, specifically the Qatari League, potentially following the path of his close friend Joselu, who made a similar move three years ago.
