This news comes just days after Los Blancos announced they would not renew the contract of their historic captain, Dani Carvajal, who won a legendary 27 titles in the white shirt.

Club President Florentino Pérez is actively continuing his squad revolution, parting ways with players deemed surplus to requirements. Alaba had unfortunately become one of them, having struggled to regain his peak form since suffering a devastating knee injury two years ago.

On Friday, the Spanish club released an official statement saying:

“Real Madrid wishes to express its gratitude and affection to David Alaba, who has been part of a squad that experienced one of the most successful eras in our club’s history.”

President Pérez also sent a heartfelt message to the renowned defender:

“Alaba carries with him the love of all Real Madrid fans for his dedication and hard work, as well as an iconic image from our journey to the 14th Champions League title, which symbolized the celebration of victory and has now become a permanent part of our club’s history.”

Alaba’s departure comes as no surprise; this season, the 33-year-old managed only 505 minutes of playtime across 15 appearances in all competitions.

The Austrian defender joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in 2021. Since then, he made 131 appearances for Los Blancos, winning 11 trophies: 2 Champions Leagues, 2 La Liga titles, 2 UEFA Super Cups, 2 FIFA Club World Cups, 2 Spanish Super Cups, and 1 Copa del Rey.
