According to Diario AS, Real Madrid management has finalized a plan for three landmark changes next season. This decision follows a second consecutive trophyless season and a crushing El Clasico defeat that exposed deep structural flaws.
1. The Return of the “Special One”
The first major move is the appointment of Jose Mourinho as head coach. He is set to replace Alvaro Arbeloa, whose tenure was marred by the highest defeat percentage in the club’s history.
While the agreement isn’t finalized, all signs suggest the Portuguese manager will take the reins officially once the La Liga season concludes.
2. A Defensive “Clear-Out”
Real Madrid is shifting its transfer strategy to prioritize experience over unproven youth. The club aims to sign 3 or 4 elite center-backs due to several factors:
-
Departures: David Alaba and Dani Carvajal will leave as their contracts expire.
-
Injury Concerns: Significant doubts surround the reliability of Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy.
-
Performance Dips: Antonio Rüdiger’s age and Alvaro Carreras’ disappointing form have forced the board to seek immediate, high-level reinforcements.
3. Midfield Restructuring
The third change involves a shake-up in the midfield. Due to declining form and dressing room tensions, at least one star—Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni, or Eduardo Camavinga—is expected to be sold. Meanwhile, Dani Ceballos is confirmed to be leaving the club. Interestingly, Madrid has no plans to sign new attackers, focusing all financial resources on the defense and midfield.
