Mamelodi Sundowns secured their place in the 2026 CAF Champions League final after defeating Espérance Sportive de Tunis 1-0 in the second leg in South Africa.
Sundowns had also won the first leg in Rades by a single goal, thus qualifying for the final with a 2-0 aggregate score.
Despite needing a win, Espérance failed to mount any convincing attacking threat and barely threatened goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.
In the 34th minute, Leon scored Sundowns’ only goal after his penalty was saved by Bechir Ben Said, but the Colombian followed up to put the rebound into the net.
Sundowns thus reach the final for the second consecutive year, having lost last year’s final to Pyramids FC of Egypt.
The South African club, who won the title once before in 2016 against Zamalek, will face the winner of the match between FAR Rabat and RS Berkane in the final.
The first leg is scheduled to take place on May 15 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, while the second leg and trophy presentation will be on May 24 in Morocco, either in Berkane or the capital, Rabat.
