What is the reason behind Zamalek’s fourteenth transfer ban?

In a now-familiar development, Zamalek has been banned from registering new players again due to a new case of unpaid dues.

FIFA announced on its website, dedicated to announcing sanctions imposed on clubs worldwide, a new transfer ban for Zamalek for three transfer windows, without disclosing the reason for the ban.

According to Egyptian media reports, the ban stems from a complaint filed by Tunisian player Ahmed Jafali regarding Zamalek’s failure to pay his agreed-upon percentage of his salary during his loan spell at Saudi club Abha.

The exact amount of money Zamalek is required to pay has not yet been determined.

Thus, the number of cases against Zamalek ruled against by FIFA has risen to 14, more than any other club in the world.

Zamalek needs to settle all outstanding payments to former players and coaches, which led to the transfer ban, by May 31st at the latest, in order for the club to obtain its CAF license and, consequently, participate in CAF continental competitions next season.

It is worth noting that Zamalek reached the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup where they will face CR Belouizdad, and the White Castle is also leading the Egyptian League standings, tied with Pyramids, before the start of the second and decisive stage for the championship title.
