Manchester United have completely distanced themselves from claims linking them with a move for Scott McTominay.
The 29-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a stellar spell at Napoli since joining the club in 2014, winning the Serie A Player of the Year award in his first season and securing a place in the Team of the Year.
A recent report from Spain claimed that Manchester United were considering a move for McTominay and that Napoli might be willing to sell their star player for a fee in the region of €80 million.
However, sources within Old Trafford have confirmed that McTominay’s name has not been discussed internally, although the club is currently looking to strengthen its midfield this summer.
Furthermore, there has been no contact between United officials and McTominay regarding a return, and the player’s representatives have already begun talks to extend his contract with Napoli.
Napoli are looking to secure the future of their player after the 2024/25 season, in which he has become one of the most influential players in Serie A. He has continued his strong form this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 4 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Currently, Napoli are working to finalize McTominay’s contract extension, aiming to complete the deal before he joins the Scottish national team for the 2026 World Cup.
