Despite Gianluigi Donnarumma’s legendary season with Paris Saint-Germain, his relationship with the French club has reached a dead end, and it’s only a matter of time before the Italian star leaves for the Parc des Princes.
The two sides disagreed over the terms of renewing the player’s contract, which expires in the summer of 2026, after Donnarumma’s exaggerated financial demands. Instead of trying to find common ground, PSG officials were convinced that they needed to completely end their relationship with the Italian international.
Paris’ first step to pressure Donnarumma was to sign Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, but the biggest surprise was coach Luis Enrique’s decision to exclude the Italian from the squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup match against Tottenham.
According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain indirectly informed Donnarumma that he must find a new club and that the relationship between the two parties must end this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain is willing to sell the 25-year-old Donnarumma for only €20-30 million.
The English Premier League remains Donnarumma’s most likely destination at the moment, with Manchester United reportedly interested in signing him, while Chelsea were eliminated in the final hours by coach Enzo Maresca.
