Marca reported that Real Madrid’s management contacted Jürgen Klopp through his agent to explore his position as coach of the club, succeeding Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian coach will leave Real Madrid at the end of this season to coach the Brazilian national team, and the management has begun searching for his successor, with Klopp among the most prominent candidates.
However, the German’s response came as a surprise, as his agent bluntly confirmed to Real Madrid’s management that his client is happy at Red Bull and has no intention of leaving at the moment.
Klopp is the CEO of Red Bull’s five clubs, most notably RB Leipzig in Germany and Salzburg in Austria.
The response is in line with what Sky Sports previously revealed, stating that Klopp does not intend to return to coaching before the next World Cup, and that coaching national teams is currently more appealing to him than the arduous task of managing clubs.
Thus, Xabi Alonso is the favorite to coach Real Madrid, especially since he is very open to the position, while Bayer Leverkusen’s management does not mind his departure for a sum ranging from 10 to 20 million euros.
