Slot opens the door for Salah’s return… on one condition

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has opened the door for Mohamed Salah’s return to the team, but on one condition: that the Egyptian player takes the initiative and apologizes for his controversial statements.

Salah had criticized Slot for missing Liverpool’s last three Premier League matches, before the Dutch coach decided to exclude him from the Champions League game against Inter Milan as a disciplinary measure.

After the victory against Inter, courtesy of Dominik Szoboszlai’s goal, Slot appeared in a lengthy interview with Dutch legend Clarence Seedorf, and again addressed the Salah issue.

When asked about what would happen to Salah in the future, Slot said, “I didn’t say I wouldn’t talk to Mohamed Salah, but the focus tonight should be on these players.”

Regarding resolving the crisis, the Dutchman said, “Everyone makes mistakes in life, but does the player realize he’s made a mistake? Should the initiative come from him or from me? That’s another question.”

Slott has not revealed his stance on including Salah in the Reds’ last match against Brighton before the 33-year-old traveled to Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.

The board continues to support Slott in his position against Salah, who appears to need to apologize to at least regain a place in the squad under the Dutch manager.
