Jurgen Klopp is open to a return to coaching and potentially managing Real Madrid next season, according to Sky Germany, a network known for its close ties to the German manager.
When Xabi Alonso was dismissed from his position at Real Madrid, Klopp spoke to the media, expressing his regret over the situation and stating that it wouldn’t affect him and that he was happy in his current role as head of football operations at Red Bull.
However, Sky Germany maintains that Klopp’s comments were very diplomatic, and that the possibility of coaching Real Madrid is indeed very appealing to him.
There are only two destinations Klopp would prefer if he were to return to coaching: the German national team and Real Madrid. The 58-year-old would be open to entering into intensive negotiations with the Spanish giants soon if the opportunity arises.
Klopp remains Florentino Pérez’s preferred choice, but the president understands that bringing him to the Santiago Bernabéu would also require granting him unprecedented powers, perhaps unmatched by any manager since José Mourinho.
Klopp’s contract with Red Bull still has three years remaining, and there’s a release clause that only activates if he wants to take over the German national team. This means Real Madrid would have to negotiate with the renowned company and pay a substantial fee to secure the services of the legendary Liverpool manager.
Meanwhile, José Mourinho seems the most logical option at the moment. Pérez favors him because of his strong personality and desire to return to top-flight management, and his relationship with Benfica is already strained, making him available for transfer once his contract expires at the end of the current season.
