The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the final lists of nominees for the 2025 African Player of the Year awards.
CAF had previously announced lengthy lists of nominees for various awards, including African Player of the Year, Best Player Based in Africa, Best Goalkeeper, Best Young Player, Best Club, and Best National Team, before narrowing down the lists on Sunday, just three days before the ceremony in Rabat, Morocco.
For the African Player of the Year award, Liverpool’s Egyptian star Mohamed Salah is competing against Paris Saint-Germain’s Moroccan midfielder Achraf Hakimi and Galatasaray’s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
Salah led Liverpool to the Premier League title, while Hakimi won the historic treble with PSG. Osimhen, meanwhile, delivered outstanding performances in Turkey, leading his team to a domestic double.
For the Best Player in Africa award, Pyramids FC duo Mohamed El Sheib and Fiston Mayele are competing against RS Berkane’s Oussama Mellouli.
The Best Goalkeeper in Africa award is contested between Munir Mohamedi, Yassine Bounou, and Ronwen Williams, while Walid Regragui is competing against Mohamed Ouahabi and Bobista for the Best Coach award.
The Best Club award is a three-way race between Pyramids FC, RS Berkane, and Mamelodi Sundowns, while the Best National Team award is contested between the Moroccan national team, the Moroccan U-20 team, and the Cape Verde national team.
