The Portuguese star announced his departure from City after a remarkable nine-year career, and the club has now begun searching for a replacement in midfield.

According to recent reports, Moroccan star Azzedine Ounahi, currently playing for Girona, is the English club’s top target to fill Silva’s void.

The 26-year-old is reportedly open to a move to City, and his release clause is only €20 million. His contract with Girona runs until the summer of 2030.

Given that City Football Group, which owns both City and Girona, the deal seems almost a done deal, pending Pep Guardiola’s final decision on signing Ounahi.

Generally, the club is considering paying more than the release clause amount and then paying the total sum in installments, in accordance with financial regulations in England.

Onahi is having a good season with Girona, having scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 18 La Liga appearances this season.
