It’s possible that Egyptian star Mohamed Salah will end up at a major European club, despite significant interest from the Saudi League and, more recently, Major League Soccer.
The “Egyptian King” announced his departure from Liverpool at the end of the current season, and since then, rumors have been circulating about clubs eager to sign him.
Undoubtedly, Saudi League clubs, which have been interested in him for almost three years, remain the most logical option. However, a surprise came from the latest report by Turkish journalist Akram Konur regarding the possibility of the 34-year-old continuing his European career.
Real Madrid and Barcelona Monitor Salah’s Situation
According to Akram, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring Salah’s situation and are seriously considering making a move to sign him next summer on a free transfer.
For Barcelona, there’s a belief within Joan Laporta’s administration that an attacking reinforcement is needed. With the difficulty of securing big-name signings for a center forward, Salah could be an ideal option. He’s capable of scoring plenty of goals and possesses the dynamism required by Hansi Flick’s system.
On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain sees Salah as a potential replacement for Ousmane Dembélé, whose contract renewal negotiations have stalled. The Egyptian international could serve as a temporary solution for a year or two before the club signs a permanent young player to lead their attack alongside Quartas and Barcolla.
Real Madrid is also monitoring the situation, but the player doesn’t fit into the club’s transfer policy, making a deal unlikely. Bayern Munich is the latest club to join the list of those interested in Salah, especially if Michael Olise leaves next season.
Serie A clubs in the picture
A return to Serie A for Salah is also possible. Italian clubs often favor this type of transfer: an experienced player with proven abilities, available on a free transfer.
Juventus is undoubtedly the frontrunner, and a return to Roma for Salah is also a likely option, although the Giallorossi haven’t been participating in the Champions League recently.
Three Saudi Clubs Want Salah
According to the latest report, Salah is also attracting interest from three Saudi clubs: Al-Ittihad, Al-Qadisiyah, and Al-Nassr.
For about two months, several reports have surfaced revealing that Al-Ittihad has already been in contact with Salah, especially as the Jeddah-based club is aiming for a complete overhaul next season to return to competing for various domestic and continental titles.
Over the past two years, Al-Qadisiyah has signed several big-name players, and there’s a vision for Salah as the new leader of the club’s ambitious project to win titles for the first time in many years.
Al-Nassr might see Salah as the “successor to Cristiano Ronaldo” to lead the club’s future project, and through him, they could attract a large number of players to the Saudi Professional League.
Only one American club is interested in Salah
A move to Major League Soccer (MLS) remains an option for Salah, and only one club is currently interested in signing him: LA Galaxy.
MLS Commissioner Gerber confirmed that the league hopes to bring Salah to one of its clubs, given the immense technical and marketing potential he would bring.
LA Galaxy is interested in Salah, but has not yet made any concrete moves. Inter Miami, New York City FC, and Chicago Fire are all currently out of the running.
