The German Football Association announced the renewal of Julian Nagelsmann’s contract with the German national team for an additional two years, to remain in his position until the end of the 2026 World Cup.
The old contract between Nagelsmann and Germany extended until the end of the Euro 2024 tournament, scheduled to be held this summer in Germany.
In recent days, Bayern Munich made an official offer to Nagelsmann to return once again to lead the Bavarian club for a period of at least 3 years.
Ultimately, Nagelsmann refused to return again to the Bavarian giant, and preferred to continue leading his country.
Commenting on extending his contract, Nagelsmann said, “This was a truly heartfelt decision. It is a great honor to be coach of the national team and work with the best players in the country.”
He added, “We want to be successful in the Euros, and then my technical staff and I will start working on the next challenge, which is the World Cup.”
Bayern’s training options are now reduced to Roberto De Zerbe and Ralf Rangnick, unless a new name emerges within the next few days.
