Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Cole Palmer will miss Tuesday’s Champions League match against Barcelona after suffering a new injury in recent hours.
Palmer has been sidelined since September due to injury and was expected to return to the Blues after the last international break.
Maresca appeared at Friday’s press conference ahead of Saturday’s match against Burnley and confirmed that Palmer will not be available for the Premier League fixture, nor for the subsequent match against Barcelona.
The Italian manager told the media, “Palmer was very close to returning; he had already recovered from his last injury.”
He added, “But two days ago, he had a domestic accident and broke a toe. He needs another week to recover and will not be available for the Burnley, Barcelona, and Arsenal matches.”
It is worth noting that Chelsea enters the Burnley match in third place in the Premier League with 20 points, 6 points behind the leader Arsenal. As for the Champions League, the Blues have collected 7 points so far, occupying 12th place.
