Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams has agreed to a move to a major club in the summer transfer window.
The Basque left winger had been on Barcelona’s radar and was frequently linked with a move to Arsenal since last January.
However, according to Sky Sports, Williams has informed Bayern Munich of his agreement to join the Bavarian club.
Bayern are looking for a new left winger, and Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola remains the Germans’ top target, but a deal appears extremely difficult to achieve.
Max Eberl’s management has identified Neco Williams and Rafael Leao as their options if their efforts to sign Barcola fail.
Contact has already taken place between Bayern and Williams, and the player has welcomed the move, but has stipulated a salary of €20 million per year, which is neither significant nor an obstacle for the Bavarian management.
However, the deal remains in its early stages, as Bayern officials prefer to wait to clarify what will happen with Barcola, and then decide between Williams and Leao.
It’s worth noting that Williams’ transfer fee to any club would be only €60 million, the value of his release clause with Athletic Bilbao.
