Manchester United’s management has decided to renew Michael Carrick’s contract, keeping him at the helm of the Red Devils for a long term.
Carrick took over the reins at United last month following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, on an interim contract that runs until the end of the current season.
In seven matches, Carrick has won six, most notably against league leaders Arsenal and second-placed Manchester City, and drawn once, remaining undefeated.
According to recent reports, Carrick enjoys strong support from the players and coaching staff, leading United’s management to believe that renewing the Englishman’s contract is preferable to bringing in another manager.
Carrick will be offered a three-year contract, with an annual salary for him and his coaching staff that could reach £16 million, including bonuses and incentives.
Manchester United had been linked with several managers, most notably Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel, but both renewed their contracts with Brazil and England, respectively, in recent months.
United currently sit third in the Premier League table with 51 points, eight points behind second-placed Manchester City and 13 points behind leaders Arsenal.
