City’s verbal offer is understood to be worth £106 million ($142m), with performance-related add-ons potentially pushing the total value of the deal beyond £120 million ($161m). However, sources reveal that Nottingham Forest have rejected the offer, holding out for a flat fee of £120 million before bonuses to greenlight Anderson’s departure.

The Race for Anderson and Alternative Targets

This marks the second time Manchester City have approached Forest, having already seen an initial bid of around £85 million knocked back.

Should the two clubs reach an agreement on the new terms, it would eclipse the current record transfer fee for a British player, which stands at £105 million—paid by Arsenal to West Ham for Declan Rice in 2023.

The 23-year-old midfielder is also a high-priority target for Manchester United. In response to the fierce competition, Manchester City are keeping close tabs on Sandro Tonali’s situation at Newcastle United as a backup option in case the Anderson deal collapses.

Current All-Time Record: Alexander Isak’s £125 million blockbuster move from Newcastle to Liverpool remains the current record transfer fee between British clubs.
