Liverpool Threatens Salah with Contract Termination

Liverpool officials are adamant about keeping Mohamed Salah until the end of his contract in the summer of 2027. However, an early termination of the contract could be the last resort for the English club’s owners if necessary.

The “Egyptian King” sparked a major crisis at Anfield before his participation with the Egyptian national team in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after coach Arne Slott decided to exclude him from the starting lineup without clear reasons.

Just before departing for Morocco, Salah played in the match against Brighton and provided an assist. Things seemed relatively good between him and Slott, but it was also clear that the relationship between the two was no longer what it once was.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool is counting on Salah for the remainder of this season, and therefore has no intention of making a move to sign a new winger in the current winter transfer window.

The main plan within Liverpool is for Salah to stay until the end of his contract, provided he maintains his usual calm demeanor and positive influence in the dressing room.

However, if Salah continues to cause problems with Slot and the issues between him and the Dutchman aren’t resolved quickly, it’s likely that negotiations for a mutual termination of his contract will take place next summer.

Slot’s own future at Anfield remains uncertain. Results haven’t satisfied the board, and questions persist about the Reds’ lackluster performances despite the major signings made last summer.

Salah is currently leading the Egyptian national team in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where they are preparing to face Senegal. He is expected to return to Liverpool after January 21st.
