The home of Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal was the target of an attempted break-in during the early hours of Tuesday morning. The incident took place while the 19-year-old winger was playing for Spain against France in the World Cup 2026 semi-finals.
Security Foils Intrusion at Yamal’s Residence
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, citing reports from La Vanguardia, private security cameras detected two individuals scaling the perimeter wall of the property, located in the upscale neighborhood of Esplugues de Llobregat in Barcelona.
The player’s private security team reacted swiftly, activating emergency protocols. Their rapid intervention successfully prevented the intruders from entering the villa, thwarting what could have been a major burglary.
Police Investigation Underway in Barcelona
Following the alert, several patrols of the Catalan police (Mossos d’Esquadra) arrived at the scene. An official investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend the suspects.
The attempted break-in coincided with other reported burglaries in the same residential area on the very same night. Detectives are currently investigating whether these incidents are linked to an organized crime ring.
No personal injuries or property damage were reported. However, security measures around the young star’s residence have been significantly tightened to prevent future incidents.
Footballers Remain Prime Targets for Burglaries
This is not the first time Yamal’s home has been targeted. According to reports, intruders managed to enter the property a few months ago, shortly after he purchased it. Family members were inside the house during that previous incident, highlighting the ongoing security threats faced by elite footballers in Europe.
