Barcelona has reached an agreement with Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim to extend his contract until June 30, 2030, reflecting the Catalan club’s conviction in the rapid development achieved by the 18-year-old player.
The agreement comes just a few months after Barcelona purchased Hamza permanently from Egyptian side Al Ahly, transitioning him from a youth-team player to a prospect closely monitored by Hansi Flick in the first team.
Details of Hamza Abdelkarim’s New Contract
Hamza is scheduled to officially sign the contract on Tuesday, September 15, at Barcelona President Joan Laporta’s office before appearing in front of the media at the club’s commercial offices.
The agreement will feature a salary increase commensurate with his new status—without disclosing financial figures—while Spanish reports indicate that his release clause will rise from €15 million to €150 million.
This represents a major step up from his previous contract running until the summer of 2029, which Hamza signed after Barcelona triggered his purchase option from Al Ahly for €1.5 million, excluding add-ons.
Hamza Abdelkarim’s Stats With Barcelona
Hamza joined Barcelona on loan in February 2026, though administrative procedures delayed his debut until he featured for the Under-19 team against Huesca, scoring a goal in a 2-2 draw.
The player scored six goals across 11 league and cup matches with the youth team, including a hat-trick in a 9-0 victory over Montecarlo—the match that secured the División de Honor youth league title for Barcelona.
His biggest leap arrived during the first team’s pre-season preparations for the current campaign. Hamza featured in five friendly matches (starting four) and scored four goals to finish as Barcelona’s pre-season top scorer, outscoring all of the club’s star players.
His reward arrived on August 31, when he came on as a substitute during a 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano. In doing so, he became the first Egyptian to represent Barcelona in an official match and the third Egyptian player to feature in La Liga after Mido and Haïssem Hassan, coming months after his participation with the Egyptian national team at the 2026 World Cup.
