It’s over.. This is Liverpool’s new coach, succeeding Jurgen Klopp

Sky Sports confirmed that Liverpool have already reached an agreement with the new coach who will succeed Jurgen Klopp in leading the Reds next season.

That coach is Ruben Amorim, the current coach of Sporting Lisbon, who is only 39 years old.

According to Sky, Liverpool’s new CEO, Michael Edwards, has decided that Amorim is the ideal choice to succeed Klopp, and negotiations with him began not long ago.

The two parties reached a verbal agreement on all the details, and all that remains is the signing of the contracts, which first requires Liverpool to pay the value of the release clause in Amorim’s contract with Sporting Lisbon.

The value of the penalty clause is only 8.1 million euros, although his contract includes another penalty clause for European clubs of 17.1 million euros, but it is reduced to the first amount given that Liverpool is one of the elite clubs on the European continent.

Amorim will take over the task of coaching Liverpool with a contract extending for 3 years, provided that he brings in an assistant crew that includes 21 members, according to reports coming from Portugal.

Xabi Alonso was Liverpool’s first choice to succeed Klopp, but the Spaniard preferred to continue with Bayer Leverkusen for another year, so the race came down to Amorim and Roberto De Zerbe and Liverpool chose the Portuguese coach.

It is noteworthy that Amorim took over the coaching of Sporting Lisbon in 2020, and over the course of 4 years, he succeeded in winning the Portuguese League once (and on his way to the second), in addition to two Portuguese Cup titles and a Super Cup title.
