Barcelona secured a thrilling 2-0 win over Espanyol in the 18th round of the 2025-26 La Liga season.
The match, played at the RCDE Stadium, remained evenly contested until the final whistle, when Barça’s superior quality proved decisive for Hansi Flick’s men.
In the 86th minute, Dani Olmo opened the scoring for Barcelona with a spectacular strike from the edge of the penalty area, leaving goalkeeper Dmitrovic helpless as the ball nestled into the net.
While Espanyol pressed for an equalizer, Robert Lewandowski extinguished any hopes of a comeback, scoring the second goal after connecting with a cross inside the box and firing it past the home side’s goalkeeper.
With this victory, Barça continues its dominance over Espanyol in the Catalan derby, securing its fifth consecutive win. The smaller Catalan side remains unable to defeat the Blaugrana since their last victory in the Copa del Rey in 2018.
Barcelona maintains its lead in La Liga, increasing its points tally to 49, and temporarily extends its advantage over Real Madrid to seven points until Los Blancos face Real Betis on Sunday.
