AC Milan have stepped up their pursuit of Robert Lewandowski, scheduling a new round of talks with his agent, Pini Zahavi, as the Barcelona striker considers his future with his contract nearing its end.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic pushing to bring the 37-year-old to the San Siro and rebuild Milan under Massimiliano Allegri, the Rossoneri feel there is a chance, but Lewandowski’s salary demands remain a major stumbling block.
According to Calciomercato, Milan are preparing a new offer for Lewandowski, with a meeting between sporting director Igli Tare and the striker’s agent, Pini Zahavi, set to take place in the coming weeks.
The San Siro hierarchy have already sounded out Lewandowski’s entourage. The upcoming meeting is expected to focus on potential salary parameters, as the Polish star currently earns €20 million net at Barcelona, nearly three times the salary of Milan’s highest earner, Rafael Leão.
This renewed push from the Rossoneri comes with the backing of their former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who now serves as a senior advisor at club owners Red Bird and is one of the most influential voices behind Milan’s sporting strategy.
The Swedish legend sees in Lewandowski the kind of elite striker who can immediately elevate a squad, just as he did with his transformative return to the club in 2020.
