The clash, which took place on Saturday at the Allianz Arena, ended in a 2-2 draw during the English striker’s first Bundesliga appearance since being crowned with the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Speaking after the match, Kane said: “Today was probably not my best performance, nor was it the team’s best, but that’s life.”

Reflecting on his missed chances, he added: “I could have stayed on the pitch for another hour today and the ball wouldn’t have gone into the net.”

The England captain missed a penalty that hit the crossbar and later saw another effort struck against the post. However, he did provide an assist for Dayot Upamecano, which briefly gave Bayern the lead before Fábio Silva scored an 89th-minute equalizer.

Addressing his Ballon d’Or triumph, Kane said: “Monday was an exceptional milestone, and without a doubt, one of the greatest feelings I’ve experienced in my football career.”

The draw leaves both teams tied on 18 points, with Bayern retaining top spot on goal difference. The Bavarian club now turns its attention to facing Atlético Madrid on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League, after a night dedicated to celebrating their star player ended with two valuable points dropped.
