It seems Barcelona’s management has finally found its man in the center-back position and is likely to move to finalize a perfect deal in every respect during the winter transfer window, based on coach Hansi Flick’s wishes.
The newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” reported that Barcelona is seeking to sign Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij, whose contract with the Italian club expires at the end of the current season, and the Italian management does not intend to extend his stay at the San Siro.
According to the report, Inter is also not opposed to selling de Vrij this winter for a low price, but only on the condition that the club succeeds in securing a replacement for him in the center-back position.
Inter has its sights set on two targets from Serie A: Spaniard Mario Gila, the Lazio defender, and Tarik Muharemovic, the Sassuolo defender. If a deal for either of them is finalized, de Vrij will be allowed to move to Barcelona or any other club.
Barcelona’s management considers the De Vrij deal ideal, as the player possesses the required technical abilities and experience playing at the highest level in European football, in addition to the relatively low cost of the transfer, both in terms of the fee paid to Inter and the 33-year-old’s salary.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona had wanted to sign Nathan Aké from Manchester City on loan this winter, but the Dutch player’s salary and the English club’s demands prevented the deal from going through.
