Barcelona’s management plans to retain Marcus Rashford and activate the purchase option included in his loan agreement during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Catalan club acquired the English star on loan from Manchester United on a free transfer, with an option to make the move permanent in the summer of 2026 for just €30 million.
Rashford’s start with Barça wasn’t ideal, but over time he has integrated well into Hansi Flick’s squad and become a key player, especially given his versatility in playing multiple positions.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Flick and Barcelona’s management have agreed to keep Rashford at the Camp Nou, recognizing him as a “high-caliber player” with exceptional quality, and acquiring a replacement of similar attributes next summer would be extremely difficult.
Marcus Rashford still has a chance to return to Manchester United following the departure of manager Ruben Amorim. However, it seems more likely that the 28-year-old will prefer to stay at Barcelona, given the unprecedented level of support he has received from the club’s management and fans at Old Trafford.
This season, Rashford has made 27 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions, scoring 7 goals and providing 11 assists.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona will focus their summer transfer efforts on signing a new striker to replace Robert Lewandowski. Considering the value of the Rashford deal, it would save the Laporta administration a significant amount of money, allowing them to pursue other attacking options.
