Match referee Juan Martínez Munuera recorded an incident involving projectiles thrown toward Real Madrid players during their celebration of the winning goal against Barcelona in El Clásico.
Reports citing Marca revealed the details included by the referee in his match report for the clash at Spotify Camp Nou, which concluded with a victory for the Royal club alongside an incident that required intervention during play.
The report stated: “In the 87th minute, during the visiting team’s celebration of their goal, a water bottle and a Coca-Cola can were thrown from the North Stand.”
The referee specified the location from which the objects were thrown as a section primarily occupied by home supporters, based on their attire and chants, confirming that neither object struck any player.
Martínez Munuera activated the first stage of the protocol for dealing with thrown objects, issuing a warning via the stadium’s public address system to halt such behavior.
The match was paused for one minute and 20 seconds due to the incident before resuming, with the referee affirming in his report that no further similar incidents occurred for the remainder of the fixture.
Barcelona faces a potential fine of up to €3,000 alongside a stadium closure warning, pursuant to Article 107.2 of the Spanish Disciplinary Code regarding the throwing of objects from the stands onto the pitch.
The penalty could escalate to a partial stadium closure for one match and a fine of up to €6,000 if the incident is classified as a serious breach of order under Article 107.1, provided the Disciplinary Committee considers the danger of the projectiles, the impact on play, and the club’s prior record, while taking into account that no player was injured.
Mbappé had sealed the match with his brace following Raphinha’s equalizer for Barcelona, allowing Real Madrid to return with all three points and narrow the gap with their top-ranked rivals, as the stadium incident remains documented in the official match report.
