According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the Spain international is receptive to returning to Spanish football. However, a move to the Catalan club would first require Tottenham to soften their financial demands.

Spurs are seeking around €70 million for the defender, a valuation Barcelona consider beyond their budget. The club have therefore asked Porro’s camp to help establish a more affordable price that could provide a basis for meaningful negotiations.

Barcelona’s interest dates back to last summer, when a potential deal depended on a major defensive sale. With Alejandro Balde and Jules Koundé both staying, the move did not progress.

Porro would offer Barcelona a natural option at right-back, combining forward runs, crossing ability and attacking width. His understanding with Lamine Yamal could also help the team vary their approach down that flank.

Real Madrid have previously shown interest in the player, too. Sport reports, however, that a move to the Spanish capital is now considered highly unlikely given Madrid’s existing options at right-back.

A January transfer appears particularly difficult unless Barcelona complete a significant sale in defence. Signing a more affordable left-footed centre-back currently ranks higher among their immediate priorities.

That makes next summer a more suitable opportunity to reassess a deal if financial circumstances change. Barcelona also retain an interest in Sporting CP’s Iván Fresneda as a less expensive alternative, while keeping Porro firmly on their radar.
