Brazilian media outlets report that Carlo Ancelotti is furious with Neymar’s reaction to being left out of the Brazilian national team squad for the March international break.
Neymar was close to making his first appearance for the Seleção since October 2023, but a recent injury has led Ancelotti to exclude him until he is 100% fit.
Neymar has repeatedly expressed his dissatisfaction with Ancelotti’s decision on social media, which has angered the Italian coach. Ancelotti believes the player is using media pressure to force his inclusion in the squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Ancelotti has been clear with Neymar from the start that he will only be called up to the national team if he is fully fit and performing well with Santos. Otherwise, regardless of the pressure, he will not be selected.
Ancelotti reiterated to those close to him that the media pressure exerted by Neymar would be futile, and that if he were to be included in the World Cup squad, it would only be because he deserved it, not because of fan support or media demands.
Neymar had confirmed in his interview after being left out that he would do his utmost in the remaining two months, hoping to convince Ancelotti, who also did not rule out including the player but stressed the need for him to be truly fit and, consequently, capable of making the desired contribution to the national team at the 2026 World Cup.
