For the past three seasons, Zamalek has finished third in the Egyptian Premier League, and the White Knights have been mired in numerous sporting and financial crises.

Most of Zamalek’s problems remain unresolved, and the club is still banned from registering new players due to 14 different cases filed with FIFA. However, in a surprising turnaround, coach Moataz Gamal has transformed the situation and is poised to achieve sporting success.

Zamalek defeated Pyramids 1-0 in the third round of the Egyptian Premier League’s final stage, putting them five points ahead of Al Ahly and Pyramids with only four rounds remaining.

Zamalek needs to win just two of their remaining four matches to secure Champions League qualification, regardless of the results of their rivals, Pyramids and Al Ahly.

Zamalek will face Enppi next Monday, followed by a clash with Al Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League’s top match. Their final two matches will be against Smouha and Ceramica Cleopatra, respectively.

If Zamalek wins just two more matches, they will reach 55 points, a tally that neither Al Ahly nor Pyramids can surpass.

It’s worth noting that Zamalek reached the final of the 2026 CAF Confederation Cup after defeating CR Belouizdad, where they will face another Algerian club, USM Alger.
