The German “Sky” network confirmed that Julian Nagelsmann has become the first candidate for the position of coach of Bayern Munich, succeeding Thomas Tuchel, starting next season.
The previous management of the Bavarian club had dismissed Nagelsmann in March 2023 and brought in Tuchel in his place, but the latter over the past year failed to provide the hoped-for addition.
Bayern Munich lost the Bundesliga title for the first time in 11 years to Bayer Leverkusen this season, and Tuchel only achieved the Bundesliga title last season and at the last minute.
According to “Sky”, the new management that took over Bayern’s mission in the past months, led by sporting director Max Eberl, decided that Nagelsmann is the most appropriate choice for the coming period in the Allianz Arena.
Negotiations between the two parties have already begun, and Bayern offered the coach a contract lasting between 3 and 4 years to persuade him to abandon the German national team and return again to the Bavarian giant.
Nagelsmann’s current contract with his country’s national team extends until Euro 2024, and the German Federation announced that it will try to extend this contract until the 2026 World Cup.
In general, Nagelsmann did not make his final decision despite the positive talks between him and Bayern, although it is most likely that he will agree to return and succeed Tuchel.
