Wagner Pina opened the scoring in the 17th minute after a long pass from Chibuike Nwaiwu. Salah doubled the lead in the 34th when the ball came to him inside the box off Paul Onuachu. He beat a defender before firing home with his left foot.

The goal ended a three-match scoring drought for Salah in all competitions. He had last found the net against Scottish side Hearts in the UEFA Conference League on 22 October, three days after his previous league goal against Beşiktaş.

The Egyptian now has nine goals in 11 league appearances, level with Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen in second place in the scoring charts. Both are one goal behind Amedspor’s Nigerian striker Gift Orban, who leads with 10. Salah has scored 11 goals for Trabzonspor in all competitions this season.

Thomas Reis’s side have now won six straight league games. They moved above Amedspor, who have 23 points, and cut the gap to leaders Galatasaray to three points with 25 of their own.

Trabzonspor return from the break by hosting Eyüpspor at Papara Park on 22 November. They then travel to Bulgaria to face CSKA Sofia in the Conference League on 26 November before visiting Göztepe in the league on 30 November.
