Egypt’s national team director, Ibrahim Hassan, has confirmed that Mohamed Salah’s recovery from his recent muscle injury is progressing well. He noted that the “Egyptian King” will most likely be fit to feature in the 2026 World Cup Round of 32 clash against Australia.
Salah was forced off early during the final group stage match against Iran due to a muscular complaint, sparking concern among Pharaohs fans ahead of the country’s historic first-ever appearance in the World Cup knockout rounds.
Speaking to the media, Ibrahim Hassan stated: “Salah began his treatment and rehabilitation on the very same day as the Iran match. He is in good condition and making great progress.”
He added: “There is a very high probability that Salah will participate in the Australia match.”
Meanwhile, Hassan indicated that Hamdi Fathi has recovered from the injury that kept him out of the Iran game, having partially taken part in Egypt’s training session on Sunday.
The Pharaohs have also welcomed back Hossam Abdelmaguid, who suffered a facial injury against New Zealand. Efforts are also underway to ready Mohamed Abdelmonem for the Australia tie after he picked up a severe ankle bruise.
It is worth noting that Egypt’s confirmed absences for the upcoming match include Mohanad Lasheen due to suspension, and Ahmed Fatouh, who is sidelined with a torn adductor muscle.
