AC Milan has officially announced the dismissal of head coach Max Allegri, Sporting Director Igli Tare, CEO Giorgio Furlani, and Chief Scout Geoffrey Moncada. In a scathing official statement, the club described the season’s outcome as an “unequivocal failure.”
The Rossoneri’s season reached a disastrous conclusion on the final day of Serie A. Needing only a single point to secure a top-four finish and Champions League qualification, Milan fumbled a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 at home against a Cagliari side with nothing to play for. This collapse allowed Como to leapfrog them into the final Champions League spot.
RedBird’s Clean Sweep: Only Ibrahimovic Remains
Following what Italian media dubbed the “Monday Night Massacre,” RedBird patron Gerry Cardinale has decided to completely “clean house.” Special advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the only high-ranking figure to survive the purge. Cardinale and Ibrahimovic will now work together to build an entirely new club structure, including a new coach and executive team.
The shake-up also marks the end of an era for Giorgio Furlani, who had been with the club since 2019. His departure follows Cardinale’s successful refinancing of the vendor loan with former owners Elliott Management.
Meanwhile, Igli Tare and Max Allegri see their tenures cut short after just 12 months, and Geoffrey Moncada leaves after eight years of service to the club’s scouting and technical departments.
