The Rojiblancos’ second-highest scorer this season wants to leave the Spanish capital in search of regular playing time, as Diego Simeone has consistently preferred Julián Álvarez as the lone striker.

La Gazzetta dello Sport revealed that Milan, who are looking for a new striker, have already contacted the Norwegian forward and reached an agreement with him regarding his move to the San Siro.

The Italian club will work to finalize the deal for the 31-year-old before the start of the 2026 World Cup, to prevent his price from increasing or other clubs from entering the race.

Milan are initially planning to pay €20 million to secure Sørloth’s signature, pending Atlético Madrid’s demands. The club is reportedly under no pressure given the player’s contract runs until the summer of 2028.

Sørloth’s move to Milan would undoubtedly be a significant blow to Barcelona. The Catalan club had been targeting the player as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, and negotiations between Barcelona and his agent are said to have taken place in recent weeks.

It’s worth noting that Barcelona also considered Vedat Muriqi, the second-highest scorer in La Liga this season and a striker for Mallorca, as an alternative should Sørloth’s transfer to Hansi Flick’s squad fall through.
