Diario AS revealed that the Uruguayan midfielder underwent an MRI scan on Wednesday, with the results coming back all-clear, rendering him available for José Mourinho ahead of the upcoming La Liga fixture.

Valverde had felt discomfort in his right hamstring during the first half against Barcelona, but persevered until the 62nd minute before being replaced by Denzel Dumfries.

Speaking after El Clásico, the player noted: “We talked at half-time, and the manager asked if I could continue, so I tried to play on, but my leg was bothering me.”

Real Madrid confirmed that both Valverde and Arda Güler trained indoors on Wednesday, while Raúl Asencio worked individually on the pitch and Rodrygo continued his recovery program, as team preparations resumed following a day off.

According to Spanish reports, the minor fatigue experienced by Güler does not jeopardize his availability against Racing. Furthermore, Thibaut Courtois is expected to be back at Mourinho’s disposal after recovering from the flu that kept him out of the Clásico.

Valverde’s fitness holds special significance for Mourinho, who deployed him at right-back against Barcelona in a 2-1 victory. The Uruguayan has been a cornerstone of the squad, playing nearly 92% of all available minutes across the team’s 13 matches this season.

Real Madrid faces a demanding stretch of three consecutive away matches prior to the international break, starting with Racing on Sunday, followed by AEK Athens on Wednesday, and Valencia on Saturday—giving the coaching staff greater flexibility as squad fitness improves.
