Al Ahly announced in an official statement that their star player, Youssef Belamri, has suffered an injury, effectively ending his season with the Red Devils.
The Moroccan player underwent medical tests on Tuesday, which confirmed a grade one tear in the origin of his left adductor muscle.
Al Ahly did not specify the expected duration of Belamri’s absence in their statement, but Egyptian media outlets indicated that he will need at least four weeks to return and rejoin coach Yce Torop’s squad.
Thus, Belamri will be unable to play for Al Ahly again this season, which has only four matches remaining, all to be played over the next month.
Belamri joined Al Ahly last winter from Raja Casablanca of Morocco. Despite initially struggling to convince his coach of his abilities, he managed to become the team’s starting left-back for the past two months.
It is worth noting that the 27-year-old has participated in 11 matches for Al Ahly this season, without scoring or assisting.
