Following Real Madrid’s dramatic Champions League exit on Wednesday against Bayern Munich, Eduardo Camavinga, who was shown a red card, broke down in tears in the visiting team’s dressing room at the Allianz Arena.
The French player received the red card after Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić showed him a second yellow card in the 86th minute. Bayern Munich then scored the equalizer that proved sufficient to secure their place in the Champions League semi-finals.
According to Marca, there was a division in the Real Madrid dressing room after the elimination. Many stars were furious about the defeat and the referee’s decisions, while Camavinga was overcome with despair.
Reports indicate that the French midfielder was left “alone and unconsoled,” sobbing in the dressing room, as Camavinga realized that in a crucial moment during the final minutes, he should have left the ball and returned to his position instead of making the mistake that Real Madrid paid so dearly for.
Despite recent events, Camavinga retains the support of his teammates, who have tried to comfort him in every way possible since seeing him cry after the Bayern match. However, the 23-year-old is in a state bordering on depression and remains deeply affected by what happened.
