During a podcast appearance with his brother Felix, Toni Kroos indicated that he knows nothing about the frequent rumors surrounding his imminent return to the Santiago Bernabéu.
The German said, “I can’t say anything about it, and I don’t want to say anything, because I don’t know anything. That’s the answer you can keep giving.”
Spanish newspapers also interpreted Kroos’s statement as a hint that he would welcome the idea of working at Real Madrid again, but is waiting for the club to signal him and specify the appropriate position.
Why Does Real Madrid Want Kroos Back?
President Florentino Pérez believes that integrating Kroos into the club’s sporting structure would bring numerous benefits, given his firm conviction that Kroos’s daily contributions at Valdebebas would support the team’s growth and development at all levels.
Kroos is not expected to oppose this return, as he maintains a close relationship with Pérez and the remaining Real Madrid players from his historic generation, and he and his family reside in the Spanish capital.
The specific position the German star would assume at Real Madrid remains unknown. He might ultimately succeed Santiago Solari, who currently serves as an advisor to the club, with some authority to influence the team and transfer market policies.
Kroos: Atlético Madrid will not win the Champions League
During his interview, Kroos also addressed the Champions League, expressing his belief that Atlético Madrid is unlikely to win the competition despite eliminating Barcelona in the quarterfinals.
The German legend continued, “I don’t think Atlético Madrid will win the Champions League. There are teams in the competition who play better than them.”
Speaking about Barcelona, he added, “When you defend like that, leaving so much space, these things can happen, including red cards, to avoid one-on-one situations with the goalkeeper.”
He concluded, “Barcelona’s defense is very fragile. It happened to them last year against Inter Milan, and this year against Atlético. As I said, if they don’t change their style of play, they will never win the Champions League.”
