Sergio Ramos will not be joining Nice during the current winter transfer window, confirmed club president Jean-Pierre Reveaud. He also stated that all media reports about negotiations between his administration and the Spanish football legend are unfounded.
Spanish media had previously reported that Nice was in advanced negotiations with Ramos, that the 39-year-old had agreed to the French offer, and that the deal would be officially announced within days.
Riverod responded firmly to these rumors, saying, “I don’t know if we have been in contact with Ramos. Perhaps at some point, but not now.”
He added, “Ramos is not among our options. If he were, I wouldn’t have revealed it, but the current situation doesn’t allow for that. I am completely satisfied with this decision.”
With Nice confirming they have withdrawn from the deal, Ramos’s next destination remains unknown, especially since he has not yet received any significant offers from Europe’s top five leagues.
It has been reported that several Turkish clubs are interested in signing Ramos, while the former Real Madrid star is still seeking a return to the top flight, seeing it as his only chance to convince Luis de la Fuente to include him in Spain’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
It’s worth noting that some Spanish newspapers previously indicated that a return to Sevilla for a third stint remains the most likely option for Ramos, who left Mexican club Monterrey at the end of 2025.
